Home and Garden is broad category because a great deal of what consumers purchase is for home and garden. The categories listed near the top of the page list home products, while those below the divider are garden shopping categories.

Before submitting the listing, please first review the Shopping Guidelines and the Shopping FAQ, since these pages pertain to all listings in Shopping.

Submissions directly to the Home and Garden category are not possible, so review the many sub-categories available and find the most appropriate one for the main product being sold on the site. Please be certain you have searched for the proper category before submitting the site.

If the site is not in English, please submit it to the proper language category in World, preferably the equivalent Shopping: Home and Garden one.

If the website sells only to a limited geographic area or does not offer online ordering, submit it to the proper locality listing within Regional. Home and Garden product manufacturing and wholesale sites serving more than one country belong in Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Home_and_Garden. Duplicate listings, other than in Regional and one other branch, will usually *not* be considered.

Accessories

Please submit the site to the most specific category possible. Failure to do so will greatly delay the review of the site. The only listings that should be submitted to this category are those that sell a wide variety of accessories. Sites selling candles should be submitted to the Candles sub-category.

This category is only for websites offering online sales of cleaning products.

If the website is about a local home or office cleaning service, please do not submit it here, as it will be deleted. Instead, please find the appropriate locality in the Regional branch of the directory.

Climate Control

Climate control products for the home and garden are devices that influence the air temperature, cleanliness, and humidity. This includes air conditioners, heaters, fireplaces, air cleaners, and fireplaces.

This category is for sites where there is something to purchase - a compost making product or book, for example.
If the web site is about the science of composting, please look at the Science category.

Floors

Floors Shopping includes all floor covering products as interior finishes that are purchased over the internet, including hardwood and laminated surfacing, carpeting, rugs and floorcloths.

Submission guidelines include that the web site itself actually be a means of selling the Floor covering products. Thus, appropriate product images and descriptions, specific product pricing and a means of ordering from the web site itself are required to qualify as a "Shopping" site.

Sites advertising a local store without online shopping should be submitted to the appropriate Regional category. Non-English sites should be submitted to the appropriate World category. Wholesale or Business should be submitted to the appropriate Business category.

This category includes sites that offer all types of furniture products intended primarily for interior residential use for sale. Sites that sell outdoor furniture are listed in Shopping: Home and Garden: Patio: Furniture.

Submission guidelines stipulate that the web site itself actually be a means of selling home furniture products. Thus, appropriate product images and descriptions, specific product pricing and a means of ordering from the web site itself are required to qualify as a "Shopping" site.

Garage

This category is for sites specializing in online sales of products for the garage.

Garden Accessories

This subcategory is for sites selling items that enhance the garden, including trellises, swings, bird baths, etc.

Garden Shops

Garden Shops is a place for gardening stores that sell a wide range of gardening products, including plants, tools and accessories, and so do not fit in any of these specific categories.

Only sites that sell a wide range of goods should be submitted here.

Please submit sites that sell gardening accessories, plants, decorations, pots or gifts to the relevant category specific to your product.

Please submit only sites that are set up to sell to the whole of the USA, or internationally.

If your site sells primarily to the local state or one non-US country, even if you can make special arrangements for international delivery, it should be submitted to the relevant Regional category.

Home Improvement

This category is primarily for sites selling home improvement products. All sites must provide list of products, prices, and must ship across a wide area. Sites that don''t meet the above requirement should be submitted to Regional.

Please note that failure to follow these guidelines, or to submit to the one most appropriate category, will greatly delay the site''s review, and may cause the submission to be deleted entirely without review.

Kitchen and Dining

The sites in these categories sell anything for the kitchen or for the dining room; from accessories and gadgets to small appliances, major appliances and tableware.

Please take the time to find the right subcategory for your submission. Sites will only be listed in one category. Check your description and spelling carefully.

If the site does not sell items (see the definition of "sell" in the Shopping category) please submit it to either a Business category or a Regional category.

Landscape Design

A landscape design provides a plan (or map) showing where plants should be installed to achieve a desired appearance. The selection of plants should consider the purpose of the garden, the preferences of the homeowner, the environment (climate zone) and the nature of the garden area (sunlight, type of soil, etc.).

If there isn''t, you''re in the wrong category. If your site sells stuff to landscapers, you''re in the wrong category (try Business: Industries: Construction and Maintenance: Materials and Supplies)

Is the site just advertising for a local service ?

There are two issues here. First, sites for local stores that do not offer online sales should go to the appropriate Regional/ category. This is the primary reason that sites don''t get listed here. If you don''t sell nationally, submit to an appropriate regional category. Second, a one-page web site with just information about a store, don�t belong in the directory.

Is the site targeted at consumers ?

Sites for wholesalers and distributors that do not sell to the general public go to Business/Industries/Wholesale ; sites for companies that make a product, but do not sell it to the general public directly, go to Business/Industries.

Does the site have a list of services for sale ?

If it doesn''t, it doesn''t belong in shopping

Are prices posted or is there a reasonable process to get prices ?

With landscape design, some sites may sell fixed priced designs, while others will require substantial interaction with the client before a price is derived.

Can purchases be made from home ?

This may be accomplished through a sophisticated shopping cart system, to a price list with a phone contact or just about anything in between.

Would the site be likely to exist without sales ?

This is another way of looking at whether the site belongs in shopping.

Does the site have substantial original landscape design content ?

This is not a requirement, but sites with substantial original content will be reviewed more favorably.

Is the site only a collection of affiliate links only ?

For a site with affiliate links to be listed, it should offer unique content

Is the site a mirror of other sites ?

Mirror sites contain the same content as another site, but have a different URL. We will only list sites once.

Is the site substantially under construction ?

If it is, please wait until you�ve finished before submitting.

Laundry

Features sites that sell products associated with doing laundry.

This category is only for web sites that meet the criteria at Shopping description.

Outdoor Structures

Shopping/Gardens/Structures is for sites that sell shed,greenhouses,fences, etc. for the garden. No affiliate sites please.

This category is only for websites with online sales of outdoor structures.

Businesses must provide product prices and ship across a wide area; see Shopping FAQs for additional information.

Businesses providing local sales or services will not be listed here. Please submit those sites to the appropriate locality in the Regional branch.

Packing and Shipping Supplies

Lists sites that offer materials primarily used to protect, carry, or temporarily store possessions and items during home and office moves.

Only sites that match the criteria for Shopping should be submitted here. Sites for other regional suppliers should be submitted within Regional/. Sites for other multi-state or international suppliers, including manufacturers, should be submitted within Business/.../Packaging.

Patio

Patio is an outdoor area adjoining a dwelling used for recreation or dining, and may be paved.

For products that would be used in a patio setting. Please submit the website listing to the one most specific category.

For sites that ship products only within the United Kingdom, please go to Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/Home_and_Garden/Gardens/Patio.

Pest Control

This category is for sites that sell pest control products. Prices MUST be included, and customers MUST be able to purchase the products via online shopping cart, e-mail or telephone.

Local pest control service companies are not listed here. Those should be submitted to the business location in the Regional branch.

Failure to follow these simple guidelines will cause significant delay in the site's review.

Plants

This category is for sites which sell a selection of different plants. Subcategories of specific plants or types of product are available for those site which specialize in such plants or products.
