Battles

This category lists pages about battles in the American Revolution, also known as the American War for Independence (AWI). Fought on North American soil from April, 1775 through November, 1783, the conflict pitted 13 of the British colonies in North America against their parent country, Great Britain. Attempts to add a 14th, Canada failed.
Land and sea battles during the period are welcome, from the smallest skirmish to the large clashes of opposing armies. Web-sites which place the battle in context using links to supporting materials such as maps, biographies, casualty reports, primary documents, and analysis are preferred over straight textural materials. Some sea battles in the Caribbean, and West Indies, while occurring during the period, had little or no impact on the outcome of the war on the Continent.

Do not be afraid to submit sites for battles already listed.

Contains documents relating to the new American Republic from the time of its Declaration of Independence until the ratification of the Treaty of Paris, which recognized it's independence and nationhood. Covers 4 July 1776 to 9 April 1784.
