Emile (Emil) Berliner Born May 20, 1851 in Hanover Germany. Moved to the United States in 1870 to work in a fabric shop. Died August 3, 1929 in Washington, DC, USA. He was an inventor and master electrician. In Germany, he made a mechanical loom for making fabric. Then, later, in the United States, he improved Edison's telephone by creating a microphone piece and finally developed the first phonograph record player using a flat disk.
