Involuntary Commitment

Involuntary commitment is a sensitive and controversial subject in mental health. Often family members, friends, law enforcement, or mental health professionals feel that this is necessary for the safety of the individual or others. On the other hand, for the person who may be committed, this can be an additional terrifying situation, that adds to what ever other pain and suffering they may be feeling, and it is a situation in which one loses their rights. This category is intended to present both sides of this issue so that all may be better educated on both the good and the abuse that can occur.

Medication

This category is reserved for sites geared towards issues in society surrounding mental health (psychiatric) medications. Sites in Society/Issues/Health/Mental_Health/Medication should include articles, editorials, experience discussions, controversies, and/or the overall societal ramifications of these medicines (as opposed to clinical, medical, or psychopharmacological details). Sites that are geared towards clinical and pharmacological content can be found in Health/Pharmacy/Drugs_and_Medications .

Sites containing information regarding issues surrounding mental health medications are welcome here. Please do not submit sites having only manufacturer''s information, dosage instructions, clinical data, or medical studies. These types of sites should go to Health/Pharmacy/Drugs_and_Medications .
