Please note that your law firm will may not be listed in this category. Inclusion of firms is based upon an editor''s review of your website. Most firms will be listed in only one category. Firms with a broad range of practice areas will be classified depending upon their typical client:
General Practice -- General practice firms have, as their primary focus, the service of the legal needs of individuals, and the basic needs of small businesses. Firms that offer a mixture of representation for such matters as personal injury, personal bankruptcy, criminal defense, family law, workers'' compensation, consumer protection, plaintiff-side employment law, residential real estate, and estate planning should classify themselves as "General Practice".
Business and Corporate Law -- Law firms in this category have, as their primary focus, the service of the needs of business clients. Firms that offer a mixture of representation for such matters as transactional law, securities regulation, intellectual property, trade and commerce, administrative law, labor law, environmental law, real estate development law, or business taxation, should classify themselves as "Business and Corporate Law".
* If your firm has one, two or three focused practice areas, please submit it to those practice areas. Our editors will review your website before adding it, so please do not submit to inappropriate categories, and please do not submit your site as a law firm if you are not licensed to practice law. Our editors will review your site before adding it to the directory, and within their discretion may add it to only a single category.
* If your firm has four or more practice areas, please submit it to General Practice or Business and Corporate Law.
* If your firm has more than one website, please choose a single URL for each category where you wish to list your site. You risk having your submissions excluded, if you submit to a single category of practice under multiple URL''s. Please note that submitting under multiple URL''s or internal links will not allow you to submit to more categories than would be allowed with a single URL.
* If your firm provides a broad range of services, but focuses on one or two specialties, submit to General Practice or Business and Corporate Law, and the specialty categories. Our editors will review your suggestions, and will add the site to the category or categories they deem appropriate.
* Because ODP is provided to serve the public interest, any decision regarding inclusion of your site is based primarily on its usefulness to the consumer. As this pertains to sites for lawyers and law firms, we ask that your site provide meaningful information about you and your firm, including not just areas of practice, and expressions of dedication, but also particulars relating to the education, training, and experience of the attorneys. Additionally, providing substantive information on your site such as FAQs, articles, legal news, and useful links relating to your area of practice will not only make it more likely that your site will be added to the directory, but will also better serve those to whom your site is directed.
* Finally, as a note to commercial groups who design and/or submit web sites, en masse, on behalf of lawyers and law firms, please understand that the human editors of have limitations in both time and patience. We ask only that you provide individualized, substantive content on the site, and a succinct description of the site/legal services when you submit.
Failure to submit your site appropriately may end up in the rejection of your submission.
