Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Christian denomination abbreviated as LDS and also known as the Mormons, founded in the eastern US by Joseph Smith, Jr. and now based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Known for emphasis on family and genealogy, and for extensive missionary work worldwide. Topics for listed sites include history, religious texts, and resources for those considering conversion.

Community of Christ

The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints broke from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1850s over issues of succession to the presidency after the death of Joseph Smith. They are headquartered in Independence, Missouri. On April 6, 2001, the name of the church officially changed to the Community of Christ.

Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(FLDS) split off the mainstream LDS Church because the FLDS practice polygamy, while the mainstream LDS has renounced the practice. Most of the adherents live in the border towns of Hildale, Utah and Colorado City, Arizona in the area known as Short Creek. There are also members living in Eldorado, Texas; Colorado; South Dakota; and British Columbia.

History
