Pentecostalism

Pentecostalism had its roots in the Holiness movement of the nineteenth century, and thus is Arminian in theology. Modern Pentecostalism is often dated to C.P. Parham's Apostolic Faith movement (1901) and the Azusa Street revival of 1906. Pentecostal Christians believe that the gifts of Pentecost, including tongues and healing, are still normal today. The gift of tongues is often seen as a manifestation of baptism in the Spirit, or of sanctification. The charismatic renewal movement, or Neo-Pentecostalism, is distinguished from classic Pentecostalism in that the charismatic renewal arose decades later, among people who were, and often still are, adherents of mainline Protestant denominations or of the Catholic Church.

Apostolic Church

The Apostolic Church is a Trinitarian Pentecostal denomination which emerged from the Welsh Revival of 1904-1905. International administrative offices are in Swansea, Wales. Among their distinctives are a belief that God has never left the Church without apostles and prophets.

Apostolic Faith Church

A Trinitarian, fundamental, evangelical church, the Apostolic Faith Church was founded in 1906 by Florence L. Crawford. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, it has branches in 16 countries.

Assemblies of God

The official name of this Pentecostal church body is "Christian Church of North America, General Council." This denomination arose in 1907 from the Pentecostal movement among Italian-speaking Christians in Chicago. They emphasize missionary activity.

Christian Outreach Centre likes to introduce itself as one church meeting in many locations. C.O.C. began with a meeting of 25 people in Brisbane, Australia, in 1974. Today Christian Outreach Centre is present in more than 30 countries. They believe that the Bible is the literal inspired Word of God, and that God wants to give the gifts of the Holy Spirit to the born-again believer.

The Church of the Living God, the Pillar and Ground of the Truth, was founded in 1903 by Mary Magdalena Lewis Tate. After Mother Tate's death, the 1931 Agreement resulted in a triumvirate: three bishops, each leading a dominion.

International Pentecostal Holiness Church

Traditional pentecostal denomination with churches in 35 states and in more than 70 countries worldwide and nearly 2.5 million adherents. Formed in 1911 by the merger of the Fire Baptized Holiness Church and the Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Italian Pentecostal Church of Canada

A movement born in the Pentecostal outpouring in Hamilton, Ontario, in 1912, established to preach the full gospel to Italians in Canada. Has churches in southern Canada, from Montreal to Vancouver.

Open Bible Standard Churches

Open Bible Churches is an association of autonomous, evangelical, Pentecostal churches. It was formed as "Open Bible Standard Churches" in 1935 from a merge of two separate revivalist organizations. There are over 1,000 Open Bible congregations in the United States and internationally. The headquarters is in Des Moines, Iowa.

Redeemed Christian Church of God

Sites pertaining to the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Started in 1952 in Nigeria by Pa Josiah Akindayomi, the RCCG today has thousands of parishes in Africa, Europe, North America, and the Caribbean.

United Holy Church of America

The United Holy Church of America was founded in 1886 as the Holy Church of North Carolina. It is an African-American Pentecostal body.

United Pentecostal Council of the Assemblies of God

The United Pentecostal Council of the Assemblies of God was established in 1919, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States. It is a historically Black fellowship of Trinitarian Pentecostal churches. Like their forefathers in Holiness churches, members believe in sanctification, in holiness of life, and in divine healing. They believe that tongues are the initial sign of Baptism in the Holy Ghost. They practice the Lord's Supper, and baptism by immersion. The UPCAG is present in Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad, and the United States. The Council is organized in Districts, with general headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
