Sikhism is an ethical monotheism fusing elements of Hinduism and Islam. It was founded by Guru Nanak (1469-1539), a mystic who believed that God transcends religious distinctions. Sikhism stresses the unity, truth, and creativity of a personal God and urges union with him through meditation and surrender to his will. It rejects the Hindu caste system, priesthood, image worship, asceticism, and pilgrimage, although it retains the Hindu doctrines of transmigration and karma. The ultimate spiritual authority is the Adi Granth, a collection of hymns and devotional poetry. The Golden Temple in Amritsar is the religious center.

All religions have temples where people can gather together to contemplate on God and pray. The Sikh temple is called a Gurdwara. The word 'Gurdwara' means 'Gateway to the Guru'. In Sikhism ones personal dedication to living a good life is important but another important aspect of Sikhism is the Sangat (congregation). Not only should one meditate on God on their individual level but also on a corporate level. There are thousands of Gurdwaras throughout Punjab and the rest of the world. They serve as community centers for the Sikhs. There are no restrictions on who may enter a Gurdwara for prayer. People of all religions are welcome to attend.
Please submit only those sites here which deal with Gurudwaras world-wide. For sites specific to a particular Gurudwara, or Gurudwaras of a particular area, please submit to "Regional" category instead.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the Living Guru of Sikhs. Unlike the Most Important Scripture for Other religions, a true Sikh does not view it as a Book. Sri Guru Granth Sahib is regarded the Living Guru. I would quote Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj, the highest devotee of Sri Guru Granth Sahib: "Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the Living, Awake Sri Guru Nanak Sahib who talks"
Submit the sites related exclusively to the Living Guru of Sikhs - Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Sites relating to Gurbani or sikh prayers should be submitted to the "Philosophy and Scriptures" category. Please note that sites not according the deserved respect to The Guru will not be accepted.
