The Australian University Sport Conference represents more than fifty university campuses, representing some 602,000 students and all 37 universities in Australia.
Working closely with these Members and state and national sporting organisations, Australian University Sport operates national and international sporting programs. These include over forty national sports and events, culminating in the annual Australian University Games and more than fifteen Australian University Championships. Also included are international sporting tours and Australia's participation in the elite World University Games and World University Championships.
In addition, Australian University Sport provides a broad range of supplementary activities and services for Members. These include innovative alliances between the corporate and University sports sectors, such as the Sports Cooperative Buying Scheme, and professional development opportunities, including the annual Australian University Sport Convention and Trade Expo.
Australian University Sport north, (AUS north), is the lead organisation governing university sport between the Fourteen member universities in Queensland, Northern Territory and northern New South Wales. This represents an annual membership of approximately 140,000 students from Darwin (NTU) and Cairns (JCU) in the north to Armidale (UNE) in NSW.
AUS north as the regional organisation operating under the Australian University Sport Constitution is responsible for the continued development and delivery of sport outcomes and related services for its members and constituents. The AUS north Calendar of Events reflects the nature of the organisation's activities.
The Northern University Games are the regions' flagship event, providing up to eighteen team sports and attracting 2,500 students annually. The Games are balanced by a Northern University Championship program that features sports such as Athletics, Swimming, Sailing and Surfing. Other events such as Triathlon and road running are featured in some of the regions best Community events, eg. Gold Coast Marathon.
Other activities are coordinated by the organisation in support of the sport program. These activities include the Drink Smart Northern University Sports Awards, Professional Development Forum and Corporate Golf Day.
As an integrated part of delivering a complete education to
tertiary students in Victoria and Tasmania, Australian
University Sport south will promote, facilitate and develop
high quality sporting and physical recreation opportunities
between campuses in a manner which encourages the
involvement and enjoyment of participants
