Domo-kun is the mascot of the Japanese broacasting corporation NHK's satellite channels BS1 and BS2. NHK has been producing 3D stop-motion vignettes, and releasing licensed merchandise which has become instantly popular around the world.
According to NHK, Domo-kun is recognized by 90% of Japanese schoolchildren.
