As Creative Director and Head Buyer at Colette boutique in Paris, Vukmirovic courted the attention of Tom Ford who appointed him to Design Director at Gucci in March 2000. Soon afterward he abandoned that position upon the invitation by Prada, the owners of the Jil Sander label, to assume Sander's vacated position where he remained as Creative Director until her return in July 2003.
