Trolls (also known as trows) are generally considered to be vile, gross creatures known for stealing children or a distaste for noise. Such trolls may hide under bridges, avoid sunlight and generally seek dark places. Commonly trolls are considered larger than humans though they have been seen as many different sizes, shapes and hairiness. They have been known to display changeling properties, appearing to be other animals or human. Some traditional trolls were known as kind-hearted, with some guarding treasure rather than hording. There are stories of humans marrying trolls. As a modern twist some fantasy trolls have taken on a cute, bright and pleasing appearance bringing good tidings.
