Two gangsters (Lionel Stander, and Jack MacGowran) on the run take refuge in an old castle on a desolate Northumberland island, and soon develop a humorous and bizarre relationship with the effeminate owner (Donald Pleasence) and his voluptuous wife (Françoise Dorléac).
