A Ken Russell film based on the life of composer Frederick Delius, the title is a re-release of Song of Summer, a 1968 teleplay originally produced for the BBC. It captures the last five or so years of the composer's life, focusing upon his relationship with wife Jelka and young composer and amanuensis Eric Fenby, showing his struggles with blindness and other syphilis-related ailments.
