The documentary "Mayor of the Sunset Strip" (2004) tells about the life of Rodney Bingenheimer, a.k.a. Rodney on the 'ROQ. A famous disk jockey on Los Angeles' station KROQ, Rodney is responsible for discovering musicians like David Bowie, Blondie, The Ramones and Nirvana. His entire life has been as a friend and hanger on to the famous, and yet as he is growing older, he lives in a cluttered apartment, works one shift a week on the air and is quickly being forgotten by the music world.
