The film "Monsieur Hire," based on a novella by mystery novelist Georges Simenon, was the breakthrough release by esteemed French director Patrice Leconte. It was the story of a loner peeping tom (played by Gallic star Michel Blanc) who becomes fixated on watching a beautiful neighbor (Sandrine Bonnaire). When she catches him spying, she is intrigued and goes out of her way to meet him. But is she interested in the man, or is she afraid of what he may have seen?
