Oliver! - UK (1968), directed by Carol Reed, - a musical version of Oliver Twist, written by Lionel Bart from the novel by Charles Dickens.
An orphan, Oliver (Mark Lester), runs away from an orphanage and hooks up with a group of boys trained to be pickpockets by an elderly mentor Fagin (Ron Moody).
Also stars Oliver Reed as Bill Sykes, and Jack Wild as The Artful Dodger.
Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture of 1968.
