Composer Ernö Dohnányi (1877-1960) was born in Pozsony, Hungary (known in German as Pressburg and now called Bratislava and part of Slovakia). He was composer, pianist, educator, and conductor. According to many, Dohnányi is counted among Hungary's four greatest composers, along with Lizst, Kodály, and Bartók. He moved to the United States in 1949, teaching at Florida State University.
