French late-Romantic composer Henri Duparc (1848-1933) left a legacy of only thirteen songs, including Chanson triste, Soupir, and the dramatically sinister La manoir de Rosemonde, yet their continuing popularity ensures his memory. Much of what Duparc wrote he later destroyed as mental health problems dogged him for much of his life.
