Israeli Modern period composer and conductor Noam Sheriff (1935-) studied composing, conducting, and philosophy in Tel-Aviv, Berlin, Salzburg, and Jerusalem. His Festival Prelude was premiered by Leonard Bernstein in 1957, leading to world-wide commissions from orchestras and ensembles. He taught in Cologne, Salzburg, and Tel-Aviv and conducted around the world.
