Polish-born composer Mieczyslaw Samuilowicz Weinberg (1919-1996; aka Moisei Vainberg) spent the second half of his life in Russia. Besides his many orchestral works, he composed operas, ballets, and piano, chamber, choral, vocal, and instrumental works. He also scored a number of films.
