Born in 1927 as David Gordon Kirkpatrick, Slim Dusty became one of Australia's most prolific recording artists and released 106 albums with estimated combined sales of 6 million. He was known outside Australia for his 1957 worldwide hit A Pub With No Beer, and for performing Waltzing Matilda at the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Slim Dusty died on 19th September 2003 after a long battle with cancer.
