Salvatore Bono was a record producer, singer, actor, restaurateur, and politician. He started his career as a record producer, working with the legendary Phil Spector. He then formed the duo Sonny and Cher with his wife, and had success both musically and with the "Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" television program. He eventually turned to politics, becoming mayor of Palm Springs, California and then a US Congressman. He passed away following a skiing accident in January of 1998.
