Born Charles Robert Redford Jr. on August 18, 1936 in Santa Monica, California, and died at home in his sleep on September 16,2025, aged 89. He and his first wife had four children, two of whom preceded him in death. He was married twice. He began acting in the late 1950s, directing in 1980 (Ordinary People), and co-founded the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, in 1978.
