Edith Minturn Sedgwick was born in Santa Barbara, California on April 20, 1943. The benefactor of her family's fortunes, Edie moved to New York City in 1965. She danced, she modeled, she acted, and she became one of Andy Warhol's "Superstars", accompanying him to parties and events throughout Manhattan. A notorious drug user and hoarder, Edie Sedwick was found dead on the morning of November 16, 1971 of an accute barbituate overdose.
