The actor was born in Blackburn, Lancashire, England on September 29, 1942. His recent work includes roles in Scoop, Sexy Beast and Agent Cody Banks. He won the 2005 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Drama for his portrayal of historical figure Al Swearengen in the HBO series Deadwood.
