Might and Magic IX is the last part of the venerable Might and Magic series so far which itself is one of the three big old franchises of computer roleplaying. Might and Magic IX was released in 2002 on the PC for Windows systems. The adventure begins with the player's party aboard a Viking-style long ship on a raiders voyage. The boat encounters some difficulty and runs aground on the Isle of Ashes in the middle of the Verhoffin Sea. The survivors are scattered amongst the wreckage and players must gather their war party, a combination of both player characters and non-player characters, and escape from the island in search of glory and riches... M&M IX put an unworthy end to a good series, as many claimed. Although using the LithTech engine for 3D graphics, the game's visuals weren't up to date. Also, many players whined about gameplay elements cut off and an overall rushed out and unfinished product.
