Thyroid cancer is made up of thyroid cells whose DNA has changed so that they do not die when they should - they continue to grow and form one or more tumours. It often presents as a single "nodule" (small tumour) in the thyroid. It can also spread. There are four types of thyroid cancer; papillary, follicular, medullary, and anaplastic.
