Multiple Hereditary Exostoses
Multiple Hereditary Exostoses (or MHE) is a condition where abnormal growth in various bones takes place, resulting in a number of bony lumps appearing during childhood.
This condition is usually inherited from a parent, but can sometimes develop unexpectedly. There is a 50% chance of MHE being passed on by an affected person to their children.
Other names for this condition include Hereditary Multiple Exostoses (HME), Multiple Osteochondromata, Osteochondromatosis, Diaphyseal Aclasis and Familial Bony Spurs
