Beta blockers is a nickname for beta-adrenergic blocking drugs. This is a group of medications that affect the body's response to certain nerve impulses by blocking the effects of adrenaline on the body's beta receptors. These drugs are used to treat high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, abnormal heart rhythms, chest pain (angina), migraine, tremors, and glaucoma.
