Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a genetic disorder of the central nervous system. There may be a problem with the chemicals in the brain that carry messages from cell to cell.
Kids with TS make sudden, repeated movements or sounds that are called motor tics and vocal tics. Eye-blinking and throat-clearing are called simple tics. Repeatedly touching another person or repeating their words are called complex tics.
There is no cure for Tourette Syndrome, but doctors have medicines that can help, if the tics become too bad.
