The original Blythe doll was manufactured in 1972 for only one year by Kenner. It was intended to be a child's toy.
In 1999, a new version was created, meant for adult collectors. The doll has a string in the back of its head, and when it's pulled, the doll's eyes change colors and direction. The newer version comes in 3 heights and has many clothes.
