Bonaire has the Caribbean's best shore diving, and is also known as the underwater macro capital of the Caribbean. While big life (jewfish, sharks, whales) is not common on Bonaire, the waters abound with over 350 species of fish - the largest recorded species diversity in the Caribbean - due in part to Bonaire's Marine Park, which protects the fringing reef system from the destructive tendencies of man. Special finds underwater on Bonaire are frogfish and sea horses.
