Hostels are unique in that most facilities are shared with other guests. Rooms are dormitory style, usually furnished with bunkbeds. Other areas such as bathrooms and lounges are shared as well. Some hostels have a small number of private or semi-private rooms, often en suite. This shared facilities arrangement keeps the cost per guest low.
