Dent is the only village in Dentdale, and is famous for its delightful cobbled streets. A fountain of pink granite in the village centre, where the three cobbled streets meet, commemorates Dent's links with Adam Sedgwick, one of the greatest field geologists of his time.
Dent, in the valley of Dentdale, one of the 'Yorkshire Dales' was once in North Yorkshire, but because of boundary changes in now in Cumbria.
Its railway station, on the famous Carlisle to Settle railway, is the highest mainline station in England.
