Bampton is located south of the  Exmoor National Park, from which it is separated by the Mid Devon parish of Morebath.  The parish stretches to the county border with  Somerset at its north and west extremes, along with the Mid Devon parishes of  Oakford to the west and  Clayhanger to the east.  On its southern boundary, the parish of Bampton meets the Mid Devon parishes of Hockworthy and  Huntsham in the south east, and Stoodleigh in the south west, with the Borough of  Tiverton directly to the south.
