Staverton is a village north of the A384 from Buckfastleigh to Totnes.
The village is in the south of the South Hams parish of Staverton, on the north bank of the River Dart, which separates it from Dartington.
The old South Devon Railway runs along the north bank, with the station and depot at the west of the village where a single vehicle
lane road at Staverton Bridge spans the Dart. The south east parish boundary with Littlehempston in at the old Manor,
still in South Hams, and the River Hems forms the east boundary with the Teignbridge parishes of Broadhempston, Woodland and Ashburton.
At Ashburton the district boundary coincides with the A38, running south, until the River Dart flows under the A38,
from which the river is the boundary south, with the A384 and South Devon Railway inside the parish of Staverton.
