Appleby village is on the B1207 road from the A1077, on the south bank of the Humber,
and leads via Broughton to junction 4 of the M180.
The parish of Appleby includes the wooded area of Santon, where the South TransPennine railway line passes, between
Scunthorpe and  Barnetby le Wold across the M180 towards Humberside Airport, within North Lincolnshire.
Only a level crossing remains of the station as it crosses the B1207.
