River Wensum, administered by the  North Norfolk District council.
The town is bypassed to the north, by the A148 road between  King's Lynn from the west,
and  Holt to the north east coast.
Holt is separated from Fakenham by the parishes of Thornage, Brinton, Gubthorpe,
Brinningham, Thursford, Lttle Snoring and Kettlestone.
