Blidworth is a very old village, being mentioned in the Domesday book as the location of a manor belonging to the Archbishop of York. It was originally surrounded by Sherwood Forest, and has connections with the Robin Hood legend. Will Scarlett is reputed to have been buried in the churchyard.
