- Donhead St Mary is a village in south west Wiltshire, on a hill 200 metres above sea level, west of
- Donhead St Andrew, between which the River Nader flows northwards, after rising from
- chalk streams west of the village, and Charlton Down in the south.
- South of both villages, the A30 takes road traffic between Swallowcliffe and Shaftesbury.
- Donhead St Mary parish stretches to the county border with Dorset at Shaftesbury, where
- the hamlets of Coombe are north of the A30, and Charlton hamlet is to the south.
- Ludworth village is on the A30 in the valley below Donhead St Mary, where a minor road
- on the course of a Roman road leads south to Ashmore,
- and joins the B3081 road south west to Tollard Royal.
