Mountain House is located in the Coast Range at the junction of I-580 and I-205, just west of Tracy. Formerly a small town of just 1,000 people, it is being developed into a master-planned community starting in 2003, making it the first "new town" of the 21st century. Mountain House is just inside San Joaquin County but is intended as a commuter suburb for the San Francisco Bay Area and shares some services with Alameda County. Its zip code is 95391.
