Enterprise is a small town nestled among the moss-laden oaks along the northern shore of the St. Johns River in southwestern Volusia County.
The community, the oldest in the county, formed in the mid-1800's as steamboats began making regular trips up the river. The town, named Enterprise, had a schoolhouse, built in 1863, and two churches.
The Florida Methodist United Children's Home was founded in Enterprise in 1908 and continues to care for children today.
