Bloomington is nestled in the rolling hills and corn fields of Monroe County, in Southern Indiana. In the 2000 Census, Bloomington ranked as the 7th most populated city in Indiana. Bloomington is also home for the main campus of Indiana University, which is attended by nearly 40,000 students and also home to the Kelley School of Business and the Kinsey Institute. Well known for its local sports, the city was also the site for the filming of the Academy Award winning movie “Breaking Away” which focused on the Little 500, an annual bicycle race at IU. Although most of the arts and entertainment is based around the university, Bloomington is also a regional center for cultural events, concerts, museums, galleries, dining, and tourism.
