Alexandria, population 7838, is the county seat of Douglas County in west central Minnesota. The city is on Interstate 94, 66 miles northwest of St. Cloud and 44 miles southeast of Fergus Falls. Alexandria is often referred to as "Alex" (pronounced "AL eck"), at least by locals and in nearby counties.
