Over two-thirds of Cache County is in wilderness areas, primarily in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Scattered through this area is a sparse sprinkling of homes and businesses, although none of these are in any incorporated areas of any town. Logan Canyon in particular is the main route, and the only paved road, between Cache and Rich counties in Utah. This is also heavily used because it is the main federal highway between Salt Lake City and Yellowstone National Park. (US Highway 89) Several parcels of private land do exist along this corridor, besides the National Forest campgrounds which also are found in abundance here.
