Addison County is located in the Champlain Valley Region of Vermont. It is bounded to the north by Chittenden County and to the east by Washington, Orange and Windsor Counties. The southernmost border is Rutland County and to the west is New York State. The county seat is Middlebury, home to Middlebury College, founded in 1800.
