Bennington County is located in Southern Vermont. It is bounded to the north by Rutland County and to the east by Windham and Windsor Counties. The southernmost border is the state of Massachusetts and to the west is New York State. The county seats are Bennington and Manchester. The census, as of 2000 indicates 36,994 people, 14,846 households, and 9,917 families residing in the county.
