Conagro Shire was establised in 1907 and is bounded by Berrigan, Jerilderie, Hay, Deniliquin, Murray and Wakool Shires in South Western New South Wales. Oh the 1st July 2001 Windouran Shire was absorbed into Conargo Shire. This amalgamation resulted in an additional 5090 square kilometres and another 387 residents. The newly formed Shire was named " Conargo" after a poll was conducted with residents from both Shires.
