The Manchu-Tungusic language family comprises the following languages: Manchu, Sibe (Xibe), Nanay (Goldi), Ulcha, Orochi, Orok, Udihe, Evenki or Tungus proper, Even (Lamut), Negidal, Orochen, and Solon. The classification of the Manchu-Tungusic languages is still ongoing. So far, the Manchu-Tungusic languages are usually classified by geographical region. Manchu, Sibe, Nanay, Ulcha, Orochi, Orok, and Udihe constitute the southern branch, and Evenki, Even, Negidal, Orochen, and Solon the northern branch of the Manchu-Tungusic languages. Some languages are considered as transitional languages between the two branches. Some scholars classify the Manchu-Tungusic languages as belonging to the Altaic language family, together with the Turkic and the Mongolic languages.
